Schroon Lake Central School is a rural public school in the Adirondack Mountains. It has been serving the community since 1936, when local common schools formed a centralized district and funding from the Depression Era "Works Progress Administration" (WPA) put local men to work constructing our building.
The school serves 241 students in grades K-12. Despite our small size, we offer an impressive array of opportunities for our youngsters in academics and athletics. Graduates from SLCS can earn up to 22 college credits. In 2008, the school was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as an outstanding school.
The staff at SLCS works hard to maintain high standards in a positive, enriching environment. Teams of teachers develop innovative solutions to meeting a wide range of student needs. New York State stands first in the United States in its education system and the standards it promotes. SLCS teachers continue to demonstrate success in helping students meet those high standards.
